Hello everyone,

I'm a beginner animator and I want everyone to check out my latest uploaded video on youtube. Please let me know what you think.
I try and do sprites that people don't really see a lot.

That was Awesome. That was one of the better flash videos I've seen. I loved the different spires each character has and how dynamic theses fight scene where. I do have my fair share of criticisms though. First, the animation is a tad stilted, mostly on the first half when they where fighting in the city but the second half defiantly felt there where a lot more frames when it came to showing character punches and sword slashes. Second, in the first half it felt vary slow, like how characters needed to spend serval second breathing and that shield transformation felt like it took forever (these was less evident on the second half agen). Thirdly, gravity was also non existent, also fraction since if a guy is being punch they need to be pushed back a little. Lastly, there should be music to help make the battles a lot more interesting. overall this is a summarized list that should be improved

-Character movement needs to be more polished.
-Passed things a tad better (not to slow or not to fast)
-improve friction and gravity
-Add music

Just to let you know I loved this animation and if I have my problems with it there are a lot that I loved about it.

-Sound effects are amazing
- the battles are very dynamic.
-there are a lot of different sprites to make it flow nicely (at least in the second half).
-the different character designs are fantastic (where they hand made or did you get them from a different source and if it is then you have good taste in sprites my friend).

I give this cartoon a 7/10. :3

Nice review classic!

Some other things to add on to what he said...

I'm not sure what FPS you're animating at but it should be either 24, 25, 30 or double these amounts so 48, 50, or 60. These are the framerates YouTube supports so any other framerates might cause your video to be stretched thus appearing slower than how you created or contracted which would make it look faster instead.

Next, dimension should be 16:9. If you made this in flash you might have kept the dimension at 550x400 but that's dimension has a weird aspect ratio for today's time and it's also the reason why you have black bars on the side. 16:9 aspect ratio is today's standard so change your dimension to match that, some common dimensions are 640x360 and 960x540. Ultimately the dimension doesn't really matter if you're converting the flash file to a video anyway it just needs to have a 16:9 aspect ratio so the dimension is your choice.

Your animation was pretty good, but most of the movements felt pretty static and unnatural. Something that would probably benefit you greatly is to go over this video playlist called the principles of animation created by Alan Becker (guy who made Animation vs Animator series):

These video are made for traditional animation but they're also pretty handy for sprite animation as well! The ones that are really important though are Squash & Stretch, Anticipation, Follow Through & Overlapping Action, Slow In & Slow Out, and Timing. I definitely recommend watching the whole series but those ones in particular are very important to sprite animation for achieving a very natural, smoother motion in your animations.

Thank you both for the input. I'll be watching the video you posted to help with my next animation.
