You know when you have a movie clip and when you go to properties you change the thing to screen

so it screens when you set it but not when you play it?

that sounds like a similar issue I once had, but for me it was blur not screen, anyways try zooming the camera out a bit, that worked for me, for some strange reason in flash certain effects don't work when the cameras too close.

another way you could fix this would be to open the sprite in fireworks, set the background to transparent, set the sprite to screen then save it as a png. now its shiny when you import it into flash.

My upcoming projects

Captain Falcon vs Bang Shishigami: 4%      Vergil vs Sephiroth: 60%

Killer Instinct Origins: TJ Combo:10%        Dragonclaw vs Evil Ryu Remake: 10%

Lloyd vs Kratos:13%                Kratos vs Cloud:10%        Ryu Hyabusa custom sprites:1%

The blend option?

I think 5h0ck hit it on the nail. Either zoom out the camera a bit, or edit it in Fireworks and re-import it.

Photoshop is fine, but you're gonna have to find tutorials on how to use Photoshop to set the opacity of a background to transparent. keywords here are "photoshop set background color transparent"

Or you can wait until someone who knows how to do this in Photoshop comes and tells you what to do, but why wait when you can look it up and figure it out quicker?
