I swear, sometimes it seems Nintendo is on the ball... then I see shit like this and fucking Metroid Prime: Federation Force (lol they fucking took off the like/dislikes from the video) and I'm just wonder how they miss the point so bad...

RIP Paper Mario series

(2001 - 2007)

I saw the first 2 seconds of this and I almost threw my phone in rage. Nintendo ruined the series just like they did with Mario Party ;_;

I'm hoping it isn't awful. It doesn't look like it'll be anywhere near as good as TTYD but I'll take another one on par with SPM.

But yeah Nintendo seems to have no middle ground. They either take the ballsiest risks or the safest rehashes, and they never really know when to do when.

hahaha, you have the funnies, yes?

no seriously tho, why do they miss the point so much?

Like, to me, you see all these people want this one thing, but then you decide to give them something completely off the wall and expect them to be happy with it and it's just like wtf just make the thing ppl are asking for. thats how you make money

To be fair people basically just want the same crap over and over again. Everyone jerked off over Star Wars Ep: 7 when it was basically a reimagining of the other movies. They try new stuff all the time, some of it sticks and some of it doesn't. No one wanted a third person ink based shooter with squid kids and look how that turned out

i mean I guess making a game completely devoid of anything even remotely interesting or enjoyable is a pretty new and unique strategy, but I can't say I see whatever merits Nintendo thought that plan would have

I mean it is good to try out different things I suppose; I just kinda wish that they chose to try out wacky things a bit less often.

Re: Paper Mario Color Splash

I legitimately don't understand the argument that Sticker Star brought more "variety" than if they had just "copied TTYD." Sticker Star's problem wasn't that it got way too ambitious and tried out too many new ideas. Super Paper Mario was a game that actually tried to do something new and unique even if not everybody liked the new direction, it clearly had a lot of heart behind it despite its flaws.

Sticker Star, if anything, is possibly one of the laziest and most unambitious games Nintendo have ever produced. It didn't actually add anything that was unique or interesting, it didn't improve on ideas or mechanics from previous games in the series, it just stripped the franchise of everything that was actually enjoyable about it and added nothing in return except for dumb sticker gimmicks. It has none of the creativity or charm of previous games, none of the charming characters or entertaining stories, its world it rendered completely paper-flat by the complete lack of any characters populating it, its gameplay is boring and unengaging and often actively discourages you from actually engaging in combat (Obviously most people don't tend to play RPGs for their gameplay anyway, but if you're going to make an RPG without a story you'd think "fun gameplay" would be right at the top of the priorities list). There is literally not a single aspect of the game which I actually found to be enjoyable, or even anything that I would be able to point at and say "well, that's actually a cool idea that could possibly have worked if pulled off better." People say that it's actually still a decent game and only pales in comparison to the other games, but honestly even in a vacuum I think Sticker Star is just a terrible game

And yeah, no shit nobody wants "literally just a copy of TTYD." I want a game that improves and on and expands upon the things that TTYD did while still maintaining the game's creativity and its charm. I still want the old elements from the game as well, because yeah I want a sequel to a game I like to actually contain the things that I liked that game for

I totally agree with you here, but even if color splash looks like a sticker star 2 which made me rage as soon as I saw it I will "try" to maintain optimistic. The game is still in development and maybe they will add exp to the battles. If they do I will give it a try. Maybe it will be better than Sticker Star (It will 100%) but not better that TTYD or even SPM.

Speaking of which, I just found a Paper Mario 64 cart at my local used game/book store here where I find a bunch of old games. ALong with Banjo Kazooie actually. Fucker awas $45 but definitely worth it.

I just like having the original carts, I've been collecting them since that place opened. I mean it's not like any of the money is going to Nintendo anymore anyway either, ut I just like having it actually in my hand. I found an old CRT TV just for playing older games too.

I don't buy 'em to resell them. We thoguht about a couple tiems though when there'd be a game we already have, but that feels scumbag-y and like a hassle. Especially when sometimes it's the same price you can get online. We got an amazing deal on Conker's Bad Fur Day for $50 when it goes for like $70-80 online, my brother found another one yesterday for $70 so it wasn't really worth it to.
