PDN y u no transparency!!!

on 5/13/2014, 11:18 pm
Shocked I started using paint.net and the thing is that every time I open a gif in it (deleting all the backgrounds in every frame making them transparent) the background reappears when I save it as a .agf again. Therefore I can't put effects in flash

uh if the effect has a black bg you don't even need to get rid of it, just import, make it a movieclip then apply a blending mode (usually screen/lighten/add).

on the other hand if it's a effect that doesn't blend with a black bg then idk.
are you making sure that there's not a color mode option set to indexed somewhere in the new file you save?
it's the only thing i think that could be causing that

ah ok then that should work. remember to create a blank frame after all the others, with a stop(); actionscript on it, for easier managing. that way you won't need to memorize it's frame count

hope it helps

Why are you using gifs if they're not even animated? Use pngs.

They are animated but when I export them out of paint.net they grow a background of some sort.

Paint.net can't handle animated gifs, you don't even know what you're doin.

It's a plugin for paint.net. It turns every frame of a gif into a layer.

Then chances are the plugin being used to export those layers back to a gif does not recognize Paint.net's native transparency.

Leo's advice helped me out. The thing is that flash (on my end) cannot handle high quality effects. But I just started using paint.net and I like it over macromedia fireworks and photoshop.
