    Hyrule Warriors

Post by Similuo on 1/7/2014, 7:39 pm

Hello ladies and gents, its Simi that LoZ fan nerd guy back with some more fan nerdgasms. As the title and description suggest I'd like to update this thread constantly with news about this game and hopefully have some sparking conversations regarding it. I'm going to analyze a few things based off of the images and teaser trailer that were already released so before I get into that go ahead and play this while you read on.

Alright jumping right in, so exciting! Nintendo announced Hyrule Warriors as a spinoff title and collaboration with Tecmo Koei some weeks back and it was quite the shocker. "But Simi! I don't want some weird franchise developing my favorite series!" Fret not LoZ lovers (because I know you all are) but Eiji Aonuma is still lead designer of this game so expect it to stay true to its roots. Lets take a look at Link's character design shall we?

Link fighting an army of Bokoblins and a Lizalfos

Sporting his usual green tunic with some added features Link is all geared up and ready to take on the world as the Hero of Time once more. This game will most likely present rpg like elements in a way that which each hero you play as (we will get into playable characters later on be patient!) will level up and gain new gear. Right now we see that Link does not have the Master Sword nor does he have the shield. He is currently inside a Hyrulian garrison or base. In Dynasty Warriors during gameplay you take over various bases around the map in order to increase your chances of winning and increase your soldier morale (What! Link will have soldiers??? Now you're just talking reckless Simi.....). Yes Link will have a full army force backing him up during these fights lets get into that later I said be patient right? Link is using what looks to be just standard Hylian soldier equipment. He also has a scarf around his neck that dawns the Triforce symbol at the end of it. This design is most likely inspired from the canon character of the Dynasty Warriors series, Zhao Yun

This game will be first time in which we actually see Link fighting alongside other Hylian soldier's (disregarding manga, comics or anime/cartoon adaptations). Link won't be the solo hero entering painstakingly annoying water temple dungeons by himself anymore. Lets just hope the soldiers aren't as useless as they were in OoT where they let a simple kid sneak through and get to Zelda. The picture below shows Link using a special attack knocking away various Bokoblins, you can see the Hyrulians in the background backing him up.

Since Hyrule Warriors is a spinoff we can already conclude that most of the game mechanics will stay true to that of Dynasty Warriors. Obviously this will be a hack and slash so don't expect a puzzler dungeon crawler type game from this one. This game will follow its own unique storyline so you can pretty much kiss the Zelda timeline goodbye in this title. When you are thrown into the game you are what is called an "important unit". There are usually just two sides facing off against each other but sometimes even a third or forth joins the fray. Your side consists of many important units that will be recognizable characters from the series, an army of normal guys, and your main general. Think of it like chess, you have the pawns, the knights/bishops(you) and the King or Queen(allied general). If they fall or if you fall in battle consider that an automatic game over buddy.

Now lets jump into the fun part, playable characters!

Dynasty Warriors has always been famous for its wide selection of playable characters of different factions. So as a spinoff, Hyrule Warriors has to consist of a bunch also right? So as we said earlier in order to accommodate this the timeline of the original series is practically history. Anyway I'm just going to list a lot of characters from the top of my head that I expect to see.

    Heroes
    - Link/Toon Link/Wolf Link
    - Midna
    - Zelda/Sheik
    - Groose
    - Impa
    - Fierce Deity ( iffy about this one but lets not throw it under the bus just yet!)
    - Darbus/Goron Tribe
    - Great Fairy ( Pick from me, I don't have high hopes but hey anything is possible)
    - Tetra

    Villains
    - Ganon
    - Zant
    - Vaati
    - Skull Kid
    - Ghirahim
    - Demise

Thats about it for my list. This post is solely my opinion on how I think things will go down in no way is most of the stuff you read here confirmed information from Nintendo or Tecmo Koei. It is based off of previous installments and is the most likely scenario. Thanks for sticking with me, Simi out....

    Thoughts? Comments?

Neve played any ___ Warriors game, but it looks cool. Hopefully the graphics show off what the Wii U can do, and the battling is really awesome and beyond the same fighting in like every LoZ.

I love Dynasty Warriors but yea the fighting will definitely be amped up because its a hack n slash. The Wii U can definitely achieve nice graphics (go take a look at wind waker HD or the new LoZ teaser) those look beautiful.

Judging from the teaser trailer the graphics won't be like New Legend of Zelda U but they won't be bad either.

dynasty warrior graphics are always average...most likely a tradeoff for having so many on screen models. if rthis game uses all 3 cores they might be able to push it though.

    My upcoming projects

Captain Falcon vs Bang Shishigami: 4%      Vergil vs Sephiroth: 60%

Dynasty Warriors 6 graphics were amazing actually. But then again that was on 360 and ps3 however this is the Wii U so I wouldn't throw Hyrule Warriors under the bus just yet.

The WiiU has better graphics than the PS3/360 if they make it right. idk if they can make it 1080p if there's gonna be a crapload of monsters aroudn (like Dead Rising 3) but they can make it 60 fps

Interesting! This was a good idea that was totally worth investing in, and is also a good way to expand the possibilities of the Legend of Zelda! Definitely will have to play this.

I feel over hyped at times simply because these are two or my most favorite game franchises coming together for a mash-up of fucking AWESOME. I started playing Dynasty Warriors back when 4 came out for the ps2 and I loved it. It only seemed to get better with each one. Disregarding 8 which just came out not too long ago, it was quite unsatisfactory...Never thought in a million years that Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors would do something like this. Time for more LoZ spotlight and to blow those horrid Mario and Sonic crossovers out of the way.

I feels... I have to agree, Dynasty Warriors made Hack and Slash fun. To see that in Legend of Zelda gives it a feat that's acceptable. I'm surprised you didn't go on a nerd rant  Razz
