Do you download the models or did you do the models yourself for Sonic and Haruhi in that one vid?

I made the model all on my own. I did this in Maya.

I tried to use this program once, but my laptop can't handle it. I'll probably get back to it if I get a better one.

Thanks a lot Vash! We're starting to learn animation in Maya and making character models.

So I've officially made my first character model. I found a good reference off google and am pretty proud of this guy. I'm going to rig it so, expect an animation with him THIS MONTH! Nothing big, but it's gonna be great!

You don't need to master one before the other, you'll benefit from learning both. So if you want to learn Maya or Blender don't hesitate. I know I regret not learning Maya or Blender earlier.

Yes and no.

If you want to draw your own reference? Then yes and double yes. If you want to draw your own reference, your art needs to at least be satisfactory to the point where you can draw good details and keep your perspective. You can create better models if you can draw your own references. When I say reference, I mean this:

Girl Reference:

To make it simple, you import this into Maya or Blender and use it to Model your... model.

If you're not a good artist, worry not, google has references for many things. (It's where I got that image) But if you want to be specific, like modeling your own character, drawing a reference yourself is totally necessary. Without a reference, you're modelling blind.
