Well there's still loads of otehr evidence pointing towards it being SA3. Unless they're just deliberately trolling us.

dunno. Eggman's cooler in the comics than he is in the games.

s'my reason... anyway, since there's actually no evidence that SA3 is any where from being announced, I suggest locking the topic... besides you and I have bickered enough as it is.

I'll lock it if you agree.

Yeah, may as well lock it until we've got some more evidence beyond Sonic Team teasing us.

Re: Sonic Discussion - Sonic Boom

Welp guys, following recent tradition, there has been an information leak on 4Chan by a user named Wentos the Travelling Salesman, who has made several accurate predictions on previous Sonic games since 2008, revealed a lot of details about Unleashed's plot, predicted Colours quite a bit before it was even announced, went and did it again for Sonic Generations, and even used the anme "Wnetos the Travelling Salesman" before we knew hwo the hell Wentos even was. It's still entirely possible that it's false, of course, but I figured it's important enough to at least post, and SXR kindly unlocked the topic.

http://segabits.com/forums/index.php?topic=2244.msg53963#msg53963

The post basically says that there are multiple playable characters, who all play similarly to Sonic with their own unique abilities. So, you now, Tails can fly, Knuckles can dig and glide, etc. All the levels are the same for all the characters, with pathways only accessible by using certain characters' abilities (Or possibly some speedrunning tricks)

The post mentions something about being able to play as certain characters when they join your "party," which from what I can tell means that you can only play as them when they're with Sonic and Tails (Or the story is focusing on them I suppose) and you're also able to play whatever happened to them before joining the party. It all seems kind of convoluted to me, but it's probably a lot more simple than it sounds and/or I'm misreading it.

This entire thing sounds like a fanboy's wish, which means that either SEGA is listening to what fans are asking of them and trying to appeal to the classic fans as much as possible, or the entire thing is fabricated and meant to hype fans up for nothing. I'm trying to not get my hopes up, setting myself up for the fall. But I'd be lying if I say I'm not looking forward to the game.

Also title changed to "Sonic 2013."

Oh shit is sounds like some kind of epic mix between the classic Sonic games and Sonic Advance 3 (the one where you have partners). What I like about this is that it seems that SEGA is giving us options instead of forcing us to pay attention to certain "gimmicks" they've added. Also, sounds like Tails will finally have the speed he's supposed to have (I was certain he was faster than Sonic in Sonic Adventure >.>). Joking aside, hopefully Tails actually moves faster than Tails in Sonic 06 (oh gawd, that was so terrible).

Ultimately, it's still fairly likely that this is completely fake tbh. I hope it's not, partly because it sounds kickass and partly because it makes me look like an idiot, but there's no knowing until SEGA announces the game (Probably at E3)

Also I just got the joke in "Sonic Excursion." God am I slow

But screenshots would prove it exists! We can't have that, can we?

I'm interested in all the talk of lighting and shadows and such. From what I can tell it would appear that they've got real-time global illumination down, which will certainly make the game more immersive. On teh other hand it could just mean that the levels look prettier.

no they aren't, they just aren't using him as whatever that thingy was.

You have any idea how stupid it would be to put all their hopes on a new mascot now?

Re: Sonic Discussion - Sonic Boom

on 5/2/2013, 5:26 pm
That article was bullshit. They're only using the mascot for the show thing, and possibly a game if it's popular enough. Nothing more. The "Sonic fans are terrible" and "we're killing off Sonic for good" was just P4Gaming spreading false rumours like they have multiple times in the past. They once claimed SEGA was turning to porn, for the record.

And no, Shadow was a terrible game. Even on a fundamental gameplay level, overlooking the generic art design and terribly written super grimdark plot (And no, I'm not saying that because it's a Sonic game - the dialogue and story was atrocious no matter how you look at it), the game was still terrible. The branching pathways system was retarded. You had to fulfill some incredibly stupid mission ranging from "kind of tedious" to "OH GOD LET IT END ALREADY."

There was no depth to the morality system. You break things and you're bad, kill good guys and you're bad, kill aliens and you're good. Do some shit and you go to the next cutscene, which more often than not has no connection to the previous level because they couldn't be bothered writing a coherent plot. Shadow had no depth whatsoever, compared to his at least somewhat interesting SA2 incarnation. You have to play through the game TEN FUCKING TIMES to beat the game, and if you fuck up on a mission you'll end up having to go through the thing AGAIN.

And then you unlock the last story, which completely shits on the "choose you own path" concept by having a single, canon ending. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU IMPLEMENT A CHOOSE YOUR OWN PATH SYSTEM. The guns took away any enjoyment from the game - sure, they locked on well, they were coded well, which is a surprise for SEGA of 2005, but good programming is not a subsitute for enjoyment. What's fun about sitting there, holding a button while all the enemies die? How can you possibly take enjoyment form that? Even worse, it forces you to use them by making the homing attack completely useless. Even the music was terrible and completely unmemorable. Other than one or two vocal tracks, tehre was no track that stuck in my mind.

Shadow the Hedgehog is not a good game in any way, shape or form. Even Sonic 06 had its few merits. Shadow has nothing. A boring game with a boring story about a boring character. I can guarantee you that the vast majority of the people who like this game only like it because it has Shadow in it.

Re: Sonic Discussion - Sonic Boom

Yeah, I gotta agree. Shadow the Hedgehog was pretty terrible. I can normally look past any fault a game has but that game was lacking everywhere. And the multiple levels/paths thing was bullshit; so-much-so that I didn't even finish the game and I always finish my games. What made it even worse for me was that I had gotten it for my birthday and originally my dad bought Shadow of the Colossus (all he knew was that I wanted a game with Shadow in it). I was so upset that he actually went and exchanged the games... which in retrospect I wish I had known how awesome SotC was.

Tl;Dr - Shadow the Hedgehog is a terrible game and when I was younger I trade Shadow of the Colossus for it. >.>
