Hey this was lookin pretty good.

Very strange flash dimensions though. And it was lagging up for me quite a bit at times.

Only issues I had with this were the song choice, the glow you applied to vegeta and goku when they started charging up their beam attacks and the sound was kinda bad at some points. Also was kinda weird how they suddenly showed up as SSJs at the end but yeah other than those things. Good shit.

The lag is just the swf and for me it only lagged once so I think the others was just your computer, but when I get it into an mp4, there no lag.

This is also my part of an animation im making with someone else...

Pretty smooth, however I am not impressed. To me, this just looked like any old animation, smooth, fighting, loud noises, extremely flashy effects... it's missing a couple of things. I think it's impact and personality!

Even though the sounds are loud and the effects are pretty, the hits to me are not felt. It feels a bit missing of power and emphasis, not exactly sure how to best describe this. I am sure that someone else could explain what I mean, since they have all known me for a while.

The biggest change should be adding some personality. To help show what I mean, check out some of the old timers that have inspired some of us. A lot of these animators have identities, just watching their animations, you can quickly see the difference. For example, D-SuN, Proxicide, Alvin-Earthworm, Mr Lange, crazyeight and Yuu-Mon-Mu. Then there's a couple of other animators that have a really well established style, one that I can think of quickly is DestructionSeries.

Adding some of your own flavor to the animation will greatly help the audience appreciate whatever it is they are watching. Otherwise, to me, and I hate to say it, this is just any old animation, featuring Goku and Vegeta.

Well the animation was meant to be SUPER oringinal.

I didnt know what you meant by personality, and what do you mean by flavor?

Basically, it doesn't feel UNIQUE. Your animation looks like 90% of other Goku vs Vegeta sprite battles. Don't worry thats not necessarily a bad thing, it's just the animation doesn't feel like it was in your style

My own style? You mean super quick and fast that doesnt lett the viewer time to figure out what's happening? I only do that for Sonic related animations.

by style we mean the way in which you animate, its a bit hard to explain but, its not just the speed of the battle, its everything. ummm....ok so you know how 1 artist will draw 1 character 1 way, but another artist will draw the same character a different way. their drawing in their own style.

animations pretty much the same way. when you see a persons style, your just focused on what your seeing, however when you see an animation thats too similar to another persons style, then your immediately reminded of and thinking about that other persons works as opposed to seeing the animation for what it is.

your goal is basically to make sure your audience see's your work for what it is and not immediately think about some other video and start comparing. you want people to think of your animation and not say....alvin earthworm or whoever.

making your own style stand out against everyone else's is very difficult to do. but If you can pull it off, it'll make your vids much more memorable.

so yea thats basically what we mean by "style"....well its the best way I could word it anyways. I hope I was clear and that you understood what I meant, its been a while since I've typed this much LOL

My upcoming projects

Captain Falcon vs Bang Shishigami: 4%      Vergil vs Sephiroth: 60%

This kind of sums up what I was getting at.

As Rapid also stated, it does not necessarily mean it is a bad thing. From what I understand, you are still fairly new, and it takes some time to figure out your own style. If I were you, I would play around with different sprites, from different game consoles, and try to see what you can do with them. Try to avoid making everything so fast paced, and try to add some originality. As stated previously, this does not mean it is a bad animation, it just means it lacks its own spice.

It's kind of like eating a cheeseburger, they're basically all the same, but you definitely know a good cheeseburger from a McDonald's cheeseburger. That's exactly what you need in your animation. Any Goku vs. Vegeta is similar, two dudes duking it out, but what sets yours apart? That's a question you've got to answer.

5h0ck and patt summed things up greatly.

I do wanna reiterate some things tho:

I said that it didn't look unique like making an animation unique is some simple thing to do. It's not.

Developing your own style is not an easy thing to do.

Getting your own style down will probably take a while to happen. But I said it because it's something that I want you to start thinking about when you animate.

Instead of focusing on how you THINK it should look, focus on how you WANT it to look. And think about how you want it to look not from the perspective of some other sprite animation or tv series even, just think about how you want it to look from your perspective. This is definitely more challenging because you have these big ideas in your head that are hard to animate, but when you animate how you want it to look, you (normally) get a better animation that you are a lot more proud of and that is in your style.

Ive actually thought about this, I was once trying to make a full-body mecha sonic animation with him smashing someone's head against the wall. I was trying to make the animation look like his movements are like...fast enough to make it looks like he smashed the person's head into the wall and not just a slow movement towards the wall. I WANT it to look like a pictured it in my head, but like you said "You have these big ideas in your head that are hard to animate". When you said, that you'll get a better animation that you originally expected that is what happened when I was making Raunic vs Sandbag. Now back to the Mecha Sonic animation I started to just find away for his movements to look "fast and hard",but the animation that I was thinking of, the movements looked "too" realistic, and I'm not able to animate that... Sad

You have to plan it well, you can achieve more if you plan out the animation before you animate. I always see people just open up Flash and start animating, without really planning things out. Plan things out, how you want to animate it, how you think it will look if you are actually animating it, and you can make some great stuff.

Ah yes, the millionth Goku vs Vegetable, standard "dbz style" animation. Im going to say the following because this is unfinished so you wont be undoing an entire project.

Rapid and Patt already hit the nail on the head in term of style and animation stuff so I wont beat a dead horse, as tempting as it may be. However, the idea/what you've chosen to animate is played out. Goku vs Vegeta is everywhere, dbz sounds are everywhere, typical match ups are EVERYWHERE.

Switch it up, and animate a more original concept, because doing so give you more content to bend to your will, rather than restricting yourself to the kamehame's, teleports, and final flashs, we can see anywhere.

It's pretty good, but the thing is.. I see the same animations everywhere, of Goku vs Vegeta. It doesn't hype me to see animations of Goku and Vegeta fighting.
