Yeah good fucking luck. 3d was chosen because not only do neither characters have adequate sprites for this, but their moves and these sequences are so complex that it would have been virtually impossible. Cloud's Cross-Slash followed by Link's backslice, alright, I dare you to animate that and everything else in sprites. That camera orbit was necessary to demonstrate it given how it works in the games.

Anyway, I'm actually surprised you all dislike this so much and want sprites for it instead. As far as I'm concerned this turned out pretty damn good and shits all over a sprite version of this battle, unless of course you're godly with spriting itself and could manage the amount of angles and movements that were produced, then maybe I'd consider it better. Oh and that includes the dungeon setting.

I'm not going to reveal the next match's characters. That's up to ScrewAttack. I will say though that its a really awesome matchup that I'm going to have fun animating. And yes as I said it will be sprites this time.

I sense a hint of anger/disappointment in that tone. So allow me to clear things up Laughing

Just in case that comment was directed towards me :3

xKAreloadedx wrote:
lol that was alright, I can tell that if Lange had more time and practice with the models he could have made things look more smooth and fluid. But it was still pretty good, though in my opinion the fight was really one sided since well, Link is Link from every zelda game and cloud is well, final fantasy 7 and only had his buster sword lol his weakest weapon. But it was still a good fight, good job Lange xD

^ This is exactly what I said after I saw the video, and at no point in that reply did I say that I didn't enjoy the animation itself also note how I specifically said that "I can tell that if Lange had more time and practice with the models he could have made things look more smooth and fluid. But it was still pretty good" xD the only complaint I had was the same as Tallfry's comment about how the battle should've gone about differently. But even that, had nothing to do with you, seeing as how you had to animate the script.

*Sigh* now that THAT's cleared up, I said that I wished to remake this animation with sprites, that is all Razz All the angles and camera rotations and all of the extra detail that you put into this animation, I admit, were really well done and might have been necessary to correctly convey their movements but I believe it could still be done with sprites. Just because it can't be done a certain way with sprites, does not mean it cannot be achieved through other means. To be honest I feel like you misunderstood my post Sad You see Mr. Lange, or should I say Short Factor, I have no doubt that your skills in animation are some of the most ridiculously advanced ones out there, and I still look up to you as one of my inspirations Laughing but now that you've said that it's basically impossible to do, I feel even more compelled to try it xD will it be as good? probably not, but I can still have the freedom of remaking this fight to more of my liking. No hard feelings right? xD

So after reading this (I hope) that you will understand where I'm coming from,

Also nah man, I liked it :) it kindof reminded me of Haloid, with how faced paced the whole fight was

ok is there anyone here who DOESN'T want to redo this in sprites?

also @ lange. I noticed you said you took alot of ideas out to make the deadline, if you find the time do you think you can make an extended version? just to add the stuff you originally couldn't.

I loved it, already having known it was your first 3D animation and you were limited on time. Nice job overall, next time try to get an extension or w/e if you wanted some more ideas. also a question;

do you get paid for this?

I love 3D fights, I just don't think sprites have reached their full potential yet.

well, it was badass, but some of the movmements were kinda akward like the running and walking and the sword slashing.
but overall pretty good, i just like when you animate sprites more.

Oh excuse me, two people. Ok.

Yes I do get paid. $300 per episode. Sounds like a lot but technically its less than minimum wage when you factor the time it takes to produce each episode.

I have greatly considered extending this with the missing scenes and proper ending. Ben would indeed replace it if I did. However it would take a lot of time and I'm trying to focus on Helix and a couple animation projects of my own during all the time I'm NOT working on Death Battles. So, I'd rather just let this one go.

I liked it, and it's better than minimum wage because I work two weeks and earn minimum wage and make only like $200. But, that's beside the point...

I liked the 3D; almost preferred it really but I kind of like studying people's sprite animation style so it was kind of impossible to do here. But anyways, I really liked this episode although I'm not a BIG fan of either Cloud or Link.

I think some interesting ones to do would be:

Sonic vs The Flash

Megaman vs Samus Aran

Any Street Fighter character vs Any Tekken character

Blaziken vs Infernape

King Boom Boo (Sonic) vs King Boo (Mario)

Master Chief vs A Call of Duty Army (lmao)

Ryu Hayabusa vs Kratos (That would be EPIC)
