Now, if you ask me, Popeye would beat the shit out of Luffy.
When I started this argument with someone once I got the response:
"Well you can't really count Popeye cartoons because they are so unrealistic."

So indeed the terms are even. Both shows are unrealistic concepts of wacky overpowered sailors.
To decide the winner we must look at the canon abilities both contenders have.


Luffy:
-Can stretch any part of him to indeterminable length.
-Is extremely tough, high endurance.
-Can utilize his stretchy powers in creative ways, like spinning drills and ballooning.
-Is very strong thanks to his powers.
-Can reflect bullets.
-His willpower lets him overcome painful tasks like punching spikes.
-Has a higher level transformation, Gear 2nd/3rd.


Popeye:
-Has ludicrous inhuman strength.
-Can take a steel construction beam and tie it in a knot.
-Is tough as nails, high endurance.
-Can throw a rope around a cliff face and pull a canyon together into a single land mass.
-Can pick up an asphalt highway and straighten it out like a rug.
-Has perfect accuracy with everything he does.
-Can rip the metal hull off of a battleship with his bare hands.
-Smokes a pipe 24/7, even while fighting, and is still in perfect health.
-Has a higher level transformation, whenever he eats a can of spinach.


Given the general perspective of their abilities, I believe Popeye would fuck up Luffy's shit into next year.

This has given me an idea of spriting Popeye in JUS style and animating them two shitting on each other.

luffy is strong too and cannon balls can bounce of the dude as well.
he's also quite fast. faster than popeye last i checked.

there both not the sharpness tool in the shed luffy is faster but popeye got waaaaay more experience.............

we get GOOD mugen versions of popeye and luffy with GOOD AI's...put the game on hard and go to watch mode(or spectate depending on ur screenpack).
then we can all stfu.
